John is an ex-Detroiter who was involded in Detroit's rock music scene in the late '60s. Orlich played in a band called Stuart Avery Assemblage, playing the same circuit as another band, the SRC, which he became an admirer of. The SRC (Scott Richard Case) played all the venues back then, like the Grande Ballroom, and even a "free John Sinclair" benefit. The group was very popular in the Detroit area at the time. Recently, Orlich has written and self-published a fifty-two page chapbook about the SRC, complete with Leni Sinclair photos of the band.
